I photograph artwork with a high-resolution digital camera, using professional lighting and light shaping techniques.  The final edits are performed on-site by an expertly-trained color editor on a color-calibrated display in the presence of the original artwork. These special skills and techniques result in elimination of glare in the piece without losing the unique surface texture, with rich blacks and accurately represented colors.  This is especially important on oil paintings, paintings with glossy varnish coatings and sculpture and pottery with glossy glazes.

The result is a high-resolution digital record of your creation that is as close in textural and color fidelity as possible within the limits of digital imaging color gamut.  The image files can be directly used to make prints, if desired, at any reputable custom color lab such as Image Works or White House Custom Color, among others.  I'll also provide image files in a format tailored for social media and online use, or to the requirements of your next call for entry or gallery submission.

While we are with you, I can also snap a portrait of you at work in your studio or with your work as a backdrop.  Or even add you to one of your own artworks!

Let us help you picture your work in the best light!

The proper application of light filtering techniques for photographing paintings with shiny oil or varnished surfaces is illustrated by comparing the painting on the left, photographed using a conventional lighting scheme vs. the same painting on the right, photographed using more sophisticated filtering techniques I employ in my process.  The result is a photograph much more faithful to the original artwork, and without the glare.
